About us

We moved to Thailand in August 2004, after spending a year at BMS World Mission's training centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

Pete grew up in Reading, and studied history at University College London before training as a secondary school teacher in Birmingham.  Lizz grew up in Ipswich, and trained as a physiotherapist at the University of Birmingham.

We met on a short-term mission trip to Brazil with Crusoe (Crusaders Overseas Expeditions) in 1998, and got married in 2000.  We then worked in Birmingham - Lizz at the City Hospital, and Pete at St Michael's School in Sandwell - before applying to work overseas with BMS.

When we first arrived in Thailand, we spent 15 months in intensive Thai language study in Bangkok, at the Union Language School.  We've since lived in a number of locations across the north of Thailand, and we currently live on the outskirts of Chiang Mai city.

We work with the Karen Baptist Convention (KBC), with a focus on helping to support and develop their Youth Ministry.  Lizz has also been involved with helping to provide physiotherapy care for children with disabilities at Hope Home, a residential home run by our BMS colleague, Judy Cook.  We are living on the site of the Siloam Bible School, which is the KBC's centre for training pastors, evangelists and other church workers.

We have three children, all born in Thailand - Abigail (born November 2005), Jacob (August 2007), and Chloe (January 2011).  Abigail and Jacob have just started primary school at the Chiang Mai International School,  while Chloe enjoys daytime attention at home!
